For over a more than 100 years, Mitsui Chemicals Group has been one of Japan’s leading chemical companies because of its constant innovation in wide product ranges to meet the changing needs of society.

Tracing its roots back to 1892, Mitsui Chemicals Group started out with the coke business at Miike Coal Mine (Fukuoka Prefecture, Kyushu). In 1912, we commenced operations in the Omuta plant for coal tar, gas, ammonium sulfate, and pitch.

Subsequently, we have expanded our offerings to electronics and information, automotive, housing and construction, healthcare, lifestyle and agriculture.

CHANGE IN THE PRESENT

Mitsui Chemicals Group has resolved to global strategic change with our innovative and eco-friendly solutions. Expanding our horizons to a global scale, we constantly assess and update our business strategies, corporate culture, HR policies, and management structures.

In response to ever-evolving contemporary needs, we launched a new healthcare concept and brand ‘Whole You’ in USA, producing new products in oral care, vision care, and physical mobility. We also started a unique business ‘New Diagnostics and Consulting Business’ for Photovoltaic Power Generation. In the field of mobility, our R&D division started new research to investigate the feasibility of expanding the use of our automobile products for the possibility of building robots that are intended to help us in our day-to-day lives.
