About ARLEN

01

Polymer structure and positioning

A proven high functional polyamide with superior toughness and fluidity.

耐熱ポリアミド 耐熱ポリアミド

ARLEN is a polyamide made using terephthalic acid with high heat and chemical resistance. Incorporating aromatic rings into the basic skeleton achieved high heat resistance, which is a melting point of 330℃, as well as solved the problem of water absorption that had been a weak point of conventional polyamide resin. Since this product has a polymer structure with a good balance of heat resistance and water absorption that was realized through the addition of a third component and denaturation, it has sufficiently high heat resistance against lead-free soldering that is a surface mounting technology supporting recent IT technology. The high functional resin, which was developed and launched by Mitsui Chemicals in the 1980s for the first time in the world and has been continuously chosen in the electric, and automobile fields, has expanded the lineup in response to the needs and continues to evolve while enhancing environmental responsiveness, such as lead-free soldering process and freedom from halogen.

02

Property

A well-balanced material that achieves high heat resistance and low water absorption while maintaining the characteristics of polyamide resin (mechanical properties)

HIGH HEAT RESISTANCE

A high melting point of 310ºC to 330℃, and compatible with lead-free soldering.
Superior fluidability when molding.

The melting point was increased, and the reflow heat resistance to support lead-free soldering was enhanced. Through the control of water absorption rate and flame-retardant components, the generation of blisters is reduced. Also, in flow length tests using injection, this product exhibits higher ease of molding than other products.

LOW WATER ABSORPTION

Decreasing the water absorption rate to less than half that of PA66 controls the variation in physical properties and dimensions.

The water absorption rate of ARLEN was decreased to less than half that of PA66, which had been a problem of conventional aliphatic polyamide, through the introduction of aromatic rings. This controls the variation in physical properties and dimensions caused by the water absorption. In addition, this product has high melting point and glass transition temperature, has superior physical property value under a high temperature environment and is applicable for use in a harsh environment.

HIGH MECHANICAL STRENGTH

Maintaining superior mechanical strength with rigid aromatic rings in the molecular chains and low water absorption

Polyamide realizes high strength derived from amide binding. ARLEN has acquired higher strength through the introduction of rigid benzene rings.

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE

Achieving high strength retention rate against oils and chemicals used for automobiles

This product is confirmed to maintain superior strength against oils and chemicals used for automobiles, such as engine oils, coolants, and gasoline. It has sufficiently high durability for mechanism elements and electrical components.

STRENGTH AT HIGH TEMPERATURES

Maintaining high rigidity even under high temperatures in engine rooms, due to high glass transition temperature (Tg 125℃).

The glass transition temperature is approximately 125℃, which maintains superior rigidity even under a high temperature environment.

COLOR SELECTION

Available in a wide range of colors, supporting the identification of complicated structure visually. Also enhances the design freedom.

* Also available in color variations designated for FAKRA.
