The forced mold-release molding grades for enabling molding with no generation of burrs

Forced mold-release molding refers to a method for releasing products from molds after deforming them in the molding of products with undercuts. Mitsui Chemicals developed an ARLEN grade that was optimized for forced mold-release molding. The usability from the standpoint of customers was added to the high functional resin with high reliability including durability and mechanical strength.

ARLEN that has boasted achievements in the automobile field meets another demand from production fields. The forced mold-release molding grade that maintains superior mechanical strength and reliability under high temperatures in engine rooms was developed. We offer various advantages such as production efficiency enhancement, cost reduction, and design freedom improvement to customers.

MERIT 01

High-efficiency mold release that prevents generation of "burrs"

Method using joined mold

In general, products with undercuts, such as bulge shaped products, are molded with dividable molds or slide cores. In this method, burrs are generated along the parting line of the mold. In order to prevent liquids from leaking after connecting the pipes for fluids, the process of removing burrs is necessary after molding.

Forced mold-release moldingARLEN™

On the other hand, forced mold-release is a mold-release method where the products are temporarily deformed and extracted/projected. Since no parting line is created on the mold, no burrs are generated and the burr removal process can be omitted.

Because the product finish after mold-release is smooth, the forced mold-release molding is not only efficient but also have many advantages in terms of both quality and cost reduction.

MERIT 02

Even complicated flow paths can be molded with a single part

General molding method for multiple, complex flow path components

It was conventional that products with complicated hose connections, such as the temperature control parts for automobiles, were separated into multiple parts, assembled, fastened, and then completed. This method not only requires two types of molds but also need additional assembly/fastening processes after molding.

Forced mold-release moldingARLEN™

On the other hand, forced mold-release molding can complete such operations with a single mold, the assembly and fastening process can be omitted, achieving the reduction in mold and labor costs. In addition, the product weight is reduced because the weights of bolts and so on can be saved, and the design freedom is enhanced.

Mitsui Chemicals supports the expansion of the possibilities of technologies that create various advantages with materials.
