SWP™ is a fibrillated polyolefin fiber formed by flush processing. Unlike standard cut resin fiber, its fibrillated structure allows high fiber diameter distribution (branch portion 2 μm to stem portion 30 μm) for large specific surface volume. SWP™ is a unique additive which acts as a modifier in enhancement agents, thixotropic agents, and dispersal agents and as a functionalizing agent in binders and thermal processing aids.

Functions

  • Particle trapping

By dispersing and compounding SWP™ with particles in liquid, the particles become physically trapped between SWP™'s fibrillated fibers. Uniform dispersion of SWP™ in liquid ensures consistent dispersion in particle trapping, a characteristic which is highly valued in cement board manufacturing using procedures such as the Hatschek process.

  • Viscosity control

When SWP™ is used in paints, coating material, and similar materials where shearing is applied, the fibrillated structure folds to make the influence on viscosity negligible. When inactive, the fibrillated structure returns to its previous condition resulting in higher viscosity. As a result, SWP™ effectively maintains workability during mixing and use of paints and coatings while preventing dripping after application.
