FEATURESFEATURES
- HI-ZEX MILLION™ is an ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene originally developed by Mitsui Chemicals. Utilizing its excellent mechanical properties, it is used in a wide range of applications including various electronic components, industrial materials, medical devices and food production-related components.
Generic Term | Form | Molecular Weight | Molding Method |
---|---|---|---|
Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene particles | Powder(100~160μm) | 500,000 - 6,000,000 | - Press molding - Ram extrusion - Wet extrusion - Solid-state extrusion |
Abrasion resistanceDozens of times more than regular high-density polyethylene
Exhibits abrasion resistance superior to metals such as carbon steel and brass, and dozens of times greater than regular high-density polyethylene.
Impact resistanceStrength does not change at ultra-low temperatures
Polyethylene has greater impact resistance at higher molecular weights, reaching maximum impact resistance at a molecular weight of 2,000,000. Compared with other resins, it exhibits excellent impact resistance and maintains those properties even at ultra-low temperatures.
Self-lubricationNo burning occurs
It has a low friction coefficient and burning does not occur even when it is slid along a metal surface without lubrication.Additionally, as it is hydrophobic, slurries such as minerals containing water will not stick to it.
Chemical resistanceStable against acids, alkalis and organic chemicals
HI-ZEX MILLION™ has no functional groups nor side chains or double bonds, and possesses a highly crystallizable molecular structure. For this reason, it exhibits high stability against acids, alkalis and organic chemicals.
Non-water-absorbentDoes not easily absorb water or moisture
As it absorbs almost no water or moisture, no fluid swelling or hydrolysis occurs, and there is no need for pre-heating.
LightweightEnable weight reduction
With a density of 930 - 940 kg/m3, it is among the lightest engineering resins and is able to reduce the weight of products.
HygieneBrand that also complies with FDA regulations
Confirmation and registration has been obtained from the Japan Hygienic Olefin and Styrene Plastic Association, and preparations are underway for brands compliant with hygiene testing for synthetic resin containers and packaging, etc. (Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare Notification 20. of 1982) and US FDA regulations (Code of Federal Regulation Title 21. Section 177.1520©2.2).
High qualityStable and high quality , with uniform molecular weight and particle size
Through Mitsui Chemicals' unique technologies, molecular weight distribution and particle size distribution are controlled to maintain stable high quality at all times.
