Mitsui Chemicals Comments on Merger News

With regard to the news in the Japanese mass media today reporting that "Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. and Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd., will be integrated under a joint holding company," Mitsui Chemicals' President Hiroyuki Nakanishi officially commented that while the company is studying various measures toward strengthening its business, nothing is decided at the present time.
Mitsui Chemicals therefore has nothing specific to announce at this point in time and requests the kindest understanding of all those parties concerned.
