Chemical products and materials help in improving and enriching quality of life around the world, being used in automobiles, electronics, general commodities, medical and health care, foods, housing, energy and countless other products. It is not an overstatement to say that material development in the chemical industry is a key factor in many breakthrough innovations.

Becoming a Truly Global Specialty Company
All around the world, the chemical industry stands at an unprecedented turning point. Momentum for restructuring is picking up globally, creating not just a challenge but also an opportunity for companies to reinvent themselves in a major way.
By pursuing the strategies laid out in the VISION 2030 Long-Term Business Plan we launched in 2021 – including business portfolio transformation, an increasing focus on solutions-based business models, and circular economy initiatives – we aim to become a truly global specialty company that is trusted worldwide.
We also have our eyes on what lies beyond 2030. To this end, we are targeting sustainable growth and increased corporate value through discussions with all of our stakeholders, including employees, customers and investors.
As we go about this, we intend to unite our forces around the world to tackle whatever new challenges may come our way, allowing each and every individual who underpins the Mitsui Chemicals Group to achieve their own personal growth. I look forward to your ongoing support.
Introduction
Assuming the role of President & CEO of Mitsui Chemicals, Inc., ICHIMURA Satoshi took over the reins of the Group on April 1, 2026.
After completing graduate studies at Hiroshima University, ICHIMURA joined Mitsui Toatsu Chemicals, Inc. in 1992. He worked for 18 years in a manufacturing department at the Osaka Works, striving to ensure stable operations on the factory floor. He then took up a role in business planning and coordination for vision care and health care materials – a capacity in which he drove portfolio reform by spearheading M&A and business restructuring.
Following this extensive career in both factory floor operations and business planning, ICHIMURA was appointed General Manager of Mitsui Chemicals’ Corporate Planning Division in 2022, then Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) in 2024. As part of this role, he has taken a bird’s-eye perspective of Mitsui Chemicals’ operations to devise and advance business strategies for achieving VISION 2030. He has also led efforts to set material topics for the company, and minimized threats from medium- to long-term risks while making the most of opportunities, helping to ensure both sustainable growth and increased corporate value.
Born in Kumamoto Prefecture, ICHIMURA enjoys walking his dog , playing tennis and browsing florists with his wife on his days off.
