The Mitsui Chemicals Group updates previous reports on the effects of the March 11, 2011 Great Eastern Japan Earthquake on its operations.

In restarting operations at the Company's Works, Mitsui Chemicals continues to assess the effects of the ongoing serious power shortage and continues its extensive power reduction efforts to save power.

1. Operations

a. Kashima Works (Kamisu City, Ibaraki Prefecture)

- Assessment of damage is completed.
- Operation schedule is being compiled.

2. Operations at Subsidiaries/Affiliates

a. Mitsui Chemicals Tohcello, Inc.

  • Ibaraki Works (Koga City, Ibaraki Prefecture)
  • Koga Works (Koga City, Ibaraki Prefecture)
  • Katsuta Works (Hitachinaka City, Ibaraki Prefecture)
    - Operations have resumed at all facilities of abovementioned Works.
  • Tohcello Logistics Co., Ltd. (Nogi Town, Tochigi Prefecture)
    - Repair work is underway and operations have commenced at some facilities.

b. Mitsui Chemicals Agro, Inc.

  • Funaoka Works (Shibata Town, Miyagi Prefecture)
    - Operations have commenced at all facilities with exceptions of some products.

c. Chiba Polyol Corporation

  • Chiba Works (Ichihara City, Chiba Prefecture)
    - Operations have commenced at all facilities with exceptions of some products.
