Impact of Great Eastern Japan Earthquake on Operations (#5)

The Mitsui Chemicals Group updates previous reports on the effects of the March 11, 2011 Great Eastern Japan Earthquake on its operations.

In restarting operations at the Company's Works, Mitsui Chemicals continues to assess the effects of the ongoing serious power shortage and continues its extensive power reduction efforts to save power.

1. Operations

Kashima Works (Kamisu City, Ibaraki Prefecture)

- Currently repair work is underway at some facilities. Following completion of these repairs, scheduled regular maintenance will be conducted from mid May to late June.
- Operations will be resumed after completion of scheduled regular maintenance and as necessary raw materials become available.

The abovementioned schedule is tentative and subjected to change.

2. Operations at Subsidiaries/Affiliates

Operations have commenced at all facilities with exceptions of some products.
