Matsue was praised for having led the development of a new AI-driven solution that helps manage information on chemical substance regulations. By teaching IBM Watson to parse various countries’ legal documents relating to regulatory compliance – as well as information on synonymous chemical substance names, high-level concepts, technical terms and more – this solution makes it possible to simply input a question, get that question translated into various languages and then quickly find the necessary information. In use since January 2020, this solution has helped in finding specific information relating to legal compliance. Mitsui Chemicals now aims to further expand the scope of this system.

Mitsui Chemicals launched the Digital Transformation Division as part of its organization earlier this month. The new division will work to accelerate further corporate reform by utilizing data and digital technology.
