For over a more than 100 years, Mitsui Chemicals is one of Japan’s leading chemical companies because of its constant innovation in a wide range of products and services to meet the society's changing needs.

Tracing its roots back to 1892, Mitsui Chemicals started out with the coke business at Miike Coal Mine (Fukuoka Prefecture, Kyushu). In 1912, we commenced operations in the Omuta Works for coal tar, gas, ammonium sulfate, and pitch.

Subsequently, we have expanded our offerings to various industries such as ICT, automotive, housing and construction, healthcare, lifestyle products, food packaging and agriculture.

Mitsui Chemicals Group has resolved to global strategic change with our innovative and eco-friendly solutions. Expanding our horizons to a global scale, we constantly assess and update our business strategies, corporate culture, HR policies, and management structures.

In response to ever-evolving contemporary needs, we started a unique business "New Diagnostics and Consulting Business" for Photovoltaic Power Generation. In the field of mobility, our R&D Division investigates the feasibility of expanding the use of our automobile products for the possibility of building robots that are intended to help us in our day-to-day lives. Leveraging on our wide bonding solutions, we launched POLYMETAC™, our answer to achieving strong bonding when combining various metals and resins. In the life sciences arena, we developed InnoCell™, a new cell culture standard.
