Mitsui Chemicals Acquires ISCC PLUS Certification for Epoxy Resins

Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (Tokyo: 4183; President & CEO: HASHIMOTO Osamu) has acquired certification for epoxy resins – part of the biomass phenol chain – under the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS system for certifying sustainable products. Plans are to begin selling these certified resins before the end of May.

Going forward, Mitsui Chemicals intends to make further contributions to society’s adoption of biomass products. The company will therefore continue working to acquire ISCC PLUS certifications throughout the Mitsui Chemicals Group as a whole as it aims to see biomass products utilizing the mass balance approach picked up for widespread use throughout society.

* The Mitsui Chemicals Group aims to acquire certification for – and begin sales of – all seven products in its biomass phenol chain by March 2024, and is gradually rolling out products here to this end. Certification has so far been acquired for phenol, acetone, α-methylstyrene, BPA and epoxy resin, while it has not yet been acquired for IPA and MIBK.
* The Mitsui Chemicals Group pledges its commitment to complying with the ISCC PLUS requirements in accordance with the latest ISCC regulations, and declares that it is not double-counting its environmental contributions.
