Mitsui Chemicals ICT Materia Recognized With Platinum Status Following RBA VAP Audit

Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (Tokyo: 4183; President & CEO: HASHIMOTO Osamu)  announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary Mitsui Chemicals ICT Materia, Inc. (Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: SAIMOTO Yoshihisa) has obtained the highest available rating of Platinum Status in a Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) Validated Assessment Program (VAP) audit for its Nagoya Works, which manufactures ICROS™ Tape and Mitsui Masking Tape™.

Responsible Business Alliance - Validated Assessment Program

VAP audits are conducted by third-party organizations to evaluate business activities in compliance with the Code of Conduct set out by the RBA, the world's largest corporate alliance aimed at promoting responsible business practices in the global supply chain. Audits are conducted across five sections: Labor, Health and Safety, Environment, Ethics, and Management Systems. Based on the scores across these sections, an audited company can be recognized with one of three statuses: Platinum (a perfect score of 200 points with no open findings), Gold (180 points or above with certain conditions regarding findings), and Silver (160 points or above with certain conditions regarding findings).

Mitsui Chemicals ICT Materia promotes sustainability management in accordance with the Mitsui Chemicals ICT Materia Supply Chain Code of Conduct. In turn, this allows the company to comply with the RBA Code of Conduct, which is widely recognized in the semiconductor and electronics industries.

Aided by the understanding and cooperation of its suppliers, Mitsui Chemicals ICT Materia continues to advance initiatives throughout the entire supply chain in an effort to ensure that its business activities are founded on safe working environments, consideration of environmental impacts, compliance with laws and regulations, and respect for human rights. The result of this latest audit of the Nagoya Works comes as recognition of the proper management and operation of these initiatives.
