Mitsui Chemicals Group’s SDC Technologies Makes Additional Investment in Startup flō Optics

Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (Tokyo: 4183; President & CEO: ICHIMURA Satoshi) today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary SDC Technologies, Inc. (Irvine, California, USA; President and CEO: Richard Chang; “SDC”) has made a significant follow-on investment in flō Optics Ltd. (Israel; CEO: Jonathan Jaglom; “flō Optics”), a company with proprietary digital lens coating technologies, through the execution of a SAFE (Simple Agreement for Future Equity).

This additional investment further strengthens the strategic partnership initiated through Mitsui Chemicals’ investment in flō Optics in July 2025^*1. Through SDC, Mitsui Chemicals will combine flō Optics’ proprietary digital coating platform with SDC’s extensive expertise in ophthalmic lens coating technologies to drive the creation of new value in the ophthalmic lens market.

flō Optics is a technology company developing a proprietary digital coating platform that enables highly precise, scalable lens processing. Founded by veterans of digital manufacturing and 3D printing, flō Optics is working to transform the coating processes for optical lenses.
