Mitsui Chemicals Presented RC Merit Award by Chinese Association of International Chemical Manufacturers

Tokyo - July 1, 2015 - Mitsui Chemicals Inc. (Tokyo: 4183; President & CEO: Tsutomu Tannowa) announced that the Company was presented the RC Merit Award by the Chinese Association of International Chemical Manufacturers (“AICM”) at an awards ceremony in Beijing on June 9th in recognition of its extensive ongoing Responsible Care® (RC) activities.

Mitsui Chemicals has expanded RC activities to not only its Group companies in Japan but also to its overseas subsidiaries and affiliates. At its Chinese Group companies, Mitsui Chemicals has continued to undertake activities that ensure protection of the “environment, safety, and health” and is committed to promoting ongoing dialogue and communication with its stakeholders and society.

This award was presented in recognition of not only the Group’s extensive RC activities in China but also for its contributions to the sustainable development of the Chinese chemical industry and Chinese society as a whole.

Most notably, the Mitsui Chemicals Group has provided its support to AICM through submissions of assessments to the Chinese government regarding chemical regulations in China. It has also sponsored national university student chemical design contests held by organizations such the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China (IESC) and China Education Association of Chemical Industry (CEACI). The Group made substantial donations to rebuild a very much needed elementary school in the suburbs of Shanghai. These and other social activities were recognized as important contributions to the sustainable development of the chemical industry and society in China.

The Mitsui Chemicals Group will continue to strengthen its efforts to resolve social issues to improve the quality of life of people around the world through it social contribution and responsible care activities.
