~Mitsui Chemicals Receives High Marks for Outstanding Reporting on Environmental Activities~

Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (Tokyo: 4183; President & CEO: Tsutomu Tannowa) announced it received the “Environmental Report Section Award of Merit” of the 19th Environmental Communication Awards for the Group’s “CSR Communication 2015” which was issued in October 2015. The award ceremony was held at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel on February 24th.

Environmental Communication Awards are presented by the Japanese Ministry of the Environment and the Global Environmental Forum (GEF) to recognize outstanding environmental reports in an effort to promote better environmental management and communication of business operators and improve the quality of environmental information disclosure.

Mitsui Chemicals was selected for its extensive reporting on environmental initiatives via the company website and pamphlets.

"Mitsui Chemicals Group CSR Communication 2015" comprises of a 20-page booklet and extensive web version. The printed version focuses on activities that appeal to a wide audience whereas the web version offers more insight into and detailed reports about the Group’s CSR activities.

One of the special features introduces the Group’s mobility business with a focus on the sustainable development of society and the Group through the “realization of a cohesive society in harmony with the environment", while the other feature reports on the Group’s efforts to “realize industrial platforms that are in harmony with local communities” with a focus on the Group’s safety training at its Plant Operation Technology Training Center in Mobara, Chiba.
