Mitsui Chemicals, Inc.
Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (Tokyo: 4183; President & CEO: Tsutomu Tannowa) is pleased to announce that it received the Gold Award at the 2019 Gan-Ally Declaration Awards on October 29.
The Gan-Ally Declaration Awards* is a new award scheme created by Gan-Ally-Bu (founders: Daisuke Iwase and Satoko Kono), a private sector project that focuses on tackling problems faced by people who continue to work while undergoing treatment for cancer. The awards aim to encourage workplaces to be more accommodating of employees who have cancer, thereby creating a society where people can feel comfortable continuing to work while receiving treatment.
Mitsui Chemicals was given the Gold Award this year in recognition of a number of efforts. The company has recently expanded its leave system, allowing workers to take half-day special leave to make it easier to go to the hospital for regular cancer treatment. Mitsui Chemicals has also shifted from its previous work-at-home system to more broadly accessible system of remote work. Through these changes, the company has made it possible for workers to pursue treatment and work at the same time.
Going forward, Mitsui Chemicals will continue to actively pursue diversity and inclusion as it strives to create a company in which all employees can put their all into their work.
