Mitsui Chemicals, Inc.
Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (Tokyo: 4183; President & CEO: HASHIMOTO Osamu) has received a Best IR Award in the Japan Investor Relations Association (JIRA) IR Awards 2024. This is the third successive year that Mitsui Chemicals has received a JIRA IR Award, having won the IR Special Award in 2023 and the Best IR Award in 2022.
JIRA’s IR Award program is intended to recognize companies which have been highly accredited in the investment community for their understanding and promotion of investor relations (IR) activities.
For this year, the 29th year of the award program, JIRA received applications from 355 of its member companies. Winners were selected by a committee composed of analysts, investors, journalists and more, which screened candidates based on the results of a survey. Ultimately, the screening committee awarded the IR Grand Prix to two companies, the Best IR Award to six, the IR Special Award to two and the Best IR Award for Encouragement to two.
The following list explains the reasons for Mitsui Chemicals’ selection.
- Top management always demonstrates a willingness to pursue improvements in corporate value. In addition, when a failure occurred at a plant in 2024, the company promptly disclosed information as soon as the prospects for resumption became clear, and also organized an opportunity for top management to provide an explanation in person.
- Mitsui Chemicals’ continued pursuit of business portfolio transformation against the backdrop of environmental changes has been recognized, along with the company’s willingness to explain its efforts in conjunction with its growth strategy.
- The company’s IR department is working to raise standards in such areas as the arrangement of meetings between senior management and investors, the enhancement of business presentations and other events, and responses to meeting requests based on the latest information from within and outside the company.
Three years have passed since the Mitsui Chemicals Group launched the VISION 2030 Long-Term Business Plan. With the global environment surrounding the Group’s business changing day by day, the Mitsui Chemicals Group is engaged in group-wide efforts to achieve its targets as it integrates financial and non-financial perspectives in the Group’s management and pursues basic strategies centered on business portfolio transformation.
In order to proactively communicate these initiatives to stakeholders, Mitsui Chemicals organizes presentations and events that provide opportunities for senior management, divisional heads and the IR department to join these stakeholders in face-to-face dialogue. In addition, for its annual report of this fiscal year, the company held dialogue and discussion sessions involving senior management, outside directors and stakeholders, including academics, investors and analysts.
Going forward, the Mitsui Chemicals Group aims to further increase corporate value by not only providing fair and highly transparent information via such opportunities, but also leveraging the wide-ranging perspectives and views gained from them.
