Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (Tokyo: 4183; President & CEO: ICHIMURA Satoshi; “the Company”) has been selected as the top company in the Chemicals / Fiber Industry category in the 2026 Awards for Excellence in Corporate Disclosure (32nd edition) presented by The Securities Analysts Association of Japan (“SAAJ”). This marks the sixth consecutive year, and the tenth time overall, that the Company has ranked first in the category.
Mitsui Chemicals Group (“the Group”) works to maintain and strengthen relationships of trust with its diverse stakeholders by ensuring the timely and appropriate disclosure of fair and highly transparent information. In addition to top management and the executive officers responsible for each area, outside directors actively participate in IR activities, and the Group engages in ongoing dialogue with capital markets. Under the new management structure established following the change of president on April 1 this year, the Company will maintain this approach as it seeks to enhance corporate value and achieve sustainable growth.
The Group is currently advancing business portfolio transformation to realize its long-term business plan, VISION 2030. Under the new management structure, the Group places emphasis on “the growth of our customers” and “the evolution of each individual.” By expanding its specialty chemicals domains and strengthening Basic & Green Materials, one of the Company’s business segments, through restructuring and alliances, the Group is pursuing transformation into a true global specialty company.
To achieve sustainable enhancement of corporate value, the Group is focused not only on improving profitability but also on capital efficiency indicators such as ROE. It also positions non-financial areas, including safe and stable production, human capital, research and development, digital transformation, and climate change initiatives, as important management priorities. The Group strives to provide clear and accessible disclosure on these initiatives, covering not only results and progress but also the challenges it recognizes and its policies for addressing them going forward.
Encouraged by this recognition, the Group will continue to ensure the timely and appropriate disclosure of fair and highly transparent information. It will also further enhance constructive dialogue with stakeholders and incorporate the views received through such dialogue into its management, thereby pursuing sustainable growth and enhanced corporate value.
About the Awards for Excellence in Corporate Disclosure by SAAJ
The awards have been presented annually since fiscal 1995 with the aim of promoting and improving corporate information disclosure. The 2026 awards mark the 32nd edition. SAAJ’s Corporate Disclosure Study Group evaluates the quality, volume, and timing of corporate disclosure based on the following five criteria:
- Attitude of management toward IR activities, the function of the IR department, and the company’s fundamental approach to IR activities
- Disclosure through briefing sessions, interviews, presentation materials, and other channels
- Fair disclosure
- Disclosure of ESG-related information
- Voluntary disclosure tailored to circumstances in the relevant industry
The awards evaluate the quality, volume, and timing of corporate information disclosure, including ESG-related information, as well as companies’ approaches to IR. They do not directly assess the relative merits of companies’ environmental performance.
