Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. - Carbon Neutral Research Center
Kyushu University (Fukuoka-shi, Fukuoka; President: ISHIBASHI Tatsuro) and Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: HASHIMOTO Osamu) have signed a comprehensive collaboration agreement to develop and acquire cutting-edge environmental infrastructure technologies that contribute to carbon neutrality, as well as pursue practical use and commercialization of these technologies in relevant fields. Coinciding with this, Mitsui Chemicals has established the Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. - Carbon Neutral Research Center (MCI-CNRC) within Kyushu University’s International Institute for Carbon-Neutral Energy Research (I2CNER).
MCI-CNRC will conduct joint research based on the world-leading knowledge aiming at carbon neutrality and carbon negativity that has been cultivated by I2CNER, such as knowledge about green hydrogen and CO2 recovery, storage, and conversion, as well as knowledge about development and industrialization aimed at the social implementation of environmentally friendly technologies that Mitsui Chemicals has been working on to date. Working intensively and efficiently, MCI-CNRC will also conduct research on the basic technologies needed to achieve carbon neutrality, accelerating the introduction of these technologies into society.
Kyushu University and Mitsui Chemicals will drive initiatives to resolve social issues and achieve carbon neutrality, aiming to create leading-edge commercialization technologies toward the creation of a sustainable society.
