Singapore Economic Development Board and Mitsui Chemicals Agree
to Joint Human Resource Development Programme

Singapore Economic Development Board ("EDB") and Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. ("MCI") have come together to develop the Mitsui Chemicals - Singapore Human Resource Development Programme exclusively for Singaporeans. Under this programme, Singaporean students will be able to have exclusive internship opportunities with MCI. In addition, scholarships from the company will be extended to Singaporean students in Japan.
"The EDB is very pleased that Mitsui Chemicals has chosen Singapore as its partner in the human resource programme," said Mr. Lim Siong Guan, Chairman, Singapore Economic Development Board. "This collaboration marks a new chapter in our longstanding relationship with Mitsui Chemicals and at the same time reinforces Singapore's commitment to develop and nurture local talent."
MCI's relationship with Singapore dates back to 1966, when the company first launched
its initial manufacturing of adhesive resins. Since then, Singapore has become the prime
overseas business location in which MCI continues to heavily invest. Major past
investments include developing the production of phenols, bisphenol A and elastomers in
Singapore during the late 1990s. MCI also established its first overseas R&D centre in
Singapore in 2006.
"MCI will further contribute to the development of Singapore and will pursue mutual
sustainability for the future through our business activities and this joint human resource
development programme," said Mr. Kenji Fujiyoshi, President and CEO of Mitsui
Chemicals, Inc., "and we consider this initiative to be a new endeavor that will strengthen
the relationship between both parties."
