Mitsui Chemicals extends heartfelt sympathy and sincerest apologies to all persons affected by the April 22nd explosion and fire at Mitsui Chemicals Iwakuni-Ohtake Works.
Mitsui Chemicals announces that operations have resumed at Iwakuni-Ohtake Works meta-para-cresol plant. Production of cymene, the raw material for meta-para-cresol, is suspended at Iwakuni-Ohtake Works due to destruction of its cymene plant by fire during the April 22nd accident. Cymene used in production of meta-para-cresol at Iwakuni-Ohtake Works is currently being produced at substitute facilities at Ichihara Works.
Mitsui Chemicals will continue its ongoing efforts to assure safe operations at all its facilities and the sustainment of product supply chains.
