Transfer of Shares in P. T. Amoco Mitsui PTA Indonesia

Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (Head Office: Tokyo, President & CEO: Toshikazu Tanaka) agreed to transfer all shares in P. T. Amoco Mitsui PTA Indonesia("AMI"), a manufacturer of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and joint venture with BP AMOCO CHEMICAL INDONESIA LIMITED and Mitsui & Co., Ltd., to BP GLOBAL INVESTMENTS LIMITED.

The share transfer is part of Mitsui Chemicals' effort to restructure its PTA operations under the current difficult environment for PTA business.
